KL Rahul, the team’s opening batsman, is trying to recover from an injury he sustained this year following the IPL 2022. Indian ace Rahul has returned home and resumed his recuperation after getting a successful surgery for a Sports Hernia ailment in Germany. The Lucknow Super Giants captain has begun preparing for the forthcoming bilateral series against West Indies after being included in the T20 team for the West Indies series as long as he can showcase his fitness to the selectors.

Rahul is at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru at the moment. On Sunday, the Bangalorean was spotted practicing in the nets, and footage of the incident quickly circulated on social media. On Monday (July 18), another video of Rahul from NCA quickly became popular online. In it, the legendary Jhulan Goswami of the Indian women’s cricket team delivers to the star batter Rahul in the nets. For admirers of the Indian cricket team, the epic duel in the nets was a remarkable encounter.


After leading the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to the playoffs in their first season in the wealthiest cricket competition in the world’s Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022, Rahul has not featured thereafter. He had this year’s event led by the rookie Lucknow Super Giants. LSG qualified for Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2022 under Rahul’s direction, where they were crushed by Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets. Gujarat Titans, a second rookie team, defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in the championship game to claim the trophy. On the eve of the first game in Delhi, when he was scheduled to lead the nation for the first time on home ground and make his mark as an international captain, Rahul was knocked out from the home series against South Africa.

Additionally, Rahul was forced to skip the full multi-format trip to England. However,   KL Rahul is anticipated to rejoin the Indian team for the five-match T20I series against the West Indies, which gets underway from July 29 to August 7, in Trinidad, Saint Kitts, and Nevis, and Florida.

Speaking about Goswami, she last represented the country, India, at the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2022.  Since she announced her retirement from the T20I format over four years ago, she is not included in India’s roster for the 2017 Commonwealth Games. She was, however, left off the squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka last month and was also given a rest for the Women’s T20 competition.
