How did Australia accomplish this?

Australia had a rousing finish with 55 required in 24 balls, as Bhuvneshwar Kumar first conceded 15 runs, followed by Harshal Patel’s 22-run over. Matthew Wade hit two sixes and Tim David hit one as he finished with 49 runs. Wade hit Bhuvneshwar Kumar for three consecutive boundaries through cover and midwicket in the penultimate over, making a mockery of the boundaries. Australia eventually defeated India’s highest score against them by four wickets.

How did India get to 208 runs?

Despite early seamer assistance, the openers set the tone by attacking immediately. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav kept the momentum going after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli left. The pair took advantage of the fast wicket by playing pick-up shots with ease, scoring 68 runs in the first powerplay.

What worked well for the Aussies?

Because Australia’s pacers misjudged their lengths and have the ability to score heavily against spin, they were able to capitalize briefly. While Rahul Dravid was merciless against the pacers, scoring 50 off 32 balls, Adam Zampa got the batsmen off to a flying start with consecutive sixes. However, both batsmen were quickly dismissed, giving Australia hope shortly after the innings’ midpoint.

Why couldn’t they contain India?

The final overs of the innings were dominated by Hardik Pandya, who was on target. The all-all-71 rounders off 30 deliveries, including three sixes off the final three deliveries, helped India pass the 200-run mark. Pandya totaled five sixes. While Nathan Ellis finished with three wickets and kept India from blazing away from both ends, Pandya’s blitz helped India amass a sizable total.

How did Australia come to be on top?

Australia’s opener, Cameron Green, took over for Aaron Finch. After a disastrous final over, the all-rounder redeemed himself with a 61-ball 61, including eight fours and four sixes. He enjoyed the lengths of Umesh Yadav (who was filling in for Jasprit Bumrah while he rested) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in addition to Finch. Green hit four consecutive boundaries off Umesh, while Finch hit three off the next over from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Green maintained his momentum after the powerplay and ensured that his first T20I opening stint would be remembered.
